GD + NRDC Contest / Nimrod "Golden Oldies" / More

Green Day + NRDC is having a picture contest where you can send it a picture of yourself helping the environment! They have tons of awesome prizes so check that out by clicking here.


Green Day came in number seven on the list of the top 10 Most Downloaded Golden Oldies. This list is compiled of songs from the 70's, 80's and 90's and features songs such as Journeys "Don't Stop Belevin" and Queens "". Green Day came in number seven with "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life). This is what they wrote about the song:

"Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)," 1,168,000. Though never released as a single, this was the biggest radio hit from the band’s 1997 album Nimrod. It has since become a prom night staple. Top 200 rank: #164."

PHGP Album Update

We have an update for you about the new Pinhead Gunpowder 7".  Over at VinylCollective.com they have posted the album cover which you can see at the bottom of this post.  Click here for a bigger picture of it.  It also seems that the album is self titled  Below is what was posted on VinylCollective.com:

"Our friends at Recess should be picking up this week from his pressing plant a brand new Pinhead Gunpowder 7″ and a brand new Banana’s LP. Todd will also be picking up the repress of “Boogada Boogada Boogada”. So if the plant actually delivers all of these records, next week, we should be seeing a lot of great records.

So get on this while you can. The Pinhead 7″ is out of an edition of 500, todd was hoping for blue vinyl, but since the plant has been so backed up, he said if there is a color that gets this record pressed sooner, put it on that color so we will find out what it ends up being.

Todd has also been kind enough to give us a test pressing of the Bananas vinyl. Good luck friends."

Billie Joe is on the cover of the August addition of Big Cheese Magazine.  The name of the article is called Punks Not Dead.  At the moment we are not sure what the article is about but hopefully soon we will be able to to the scans up for you.  Some other bands that the article includes is Weezer, Dead Kennedy's, Me First and the Gimmie Gimmie's, and Alkaline Trio.

XFM's Favorite Unreleased Albums / BJA / FBHT In Teen Rock

Green Day's Cigarettes and Valentines came in on XFM's Favorite Unreleased Albums. Below is what they said about Cigarettes and Valentines.

"'Cigarettes And Valentines' - The follow up to Green Day's 'The Warning', plans for the album went awry when someone nicked the master tapes. 'American Idiot' filled the gap nicely."

New PHGP Album Update / Rockin Hot 13

As we posted last month Billie Joe's side band Pinhead Gunpowder will be releasing a new EP in late July or early August.  But now we have some new news about its progress.  According to Shanty Cheryl from Recess Records the test pressing of the album is all done and as soon as it is approved by the guys in Pinhead Gunpowder it will be sent to be manufactured.

Also the first 500 copy's will be pressed on to color vinyl. 

Some song names that  we already know include West Side Highway, Anniversary Song, and. On the Avenue.

Soon will will be able to order it here.

Also RockinTown.com has placed American Idiot as #1 in their Rockin Hot 13.

Green Day Makes top 20 Trio's / New Green Day T-Shirt Designs

Rolling Stone readers were able to vote for their favorite trio's. Green Day came in 7th. Click here to read more.
Earlier in the month we posted about a new Green Day t-shirt that was available at Hot Topic. Now the same designer (Joshua Elowsky) who designed that shirt has another new Green Day shirt that will be available shortly. Joshua Elowsky said, "Green Day approved these designs and one is currently available at Hot Topic. The other will be soon." Click here to to go his blog.

I don't know if you can see it or not but the guy on the t-shirt is saying, "Boy now she's purring like a kitten."
